USEC
COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION
Join United Safe Environment Creators in our mission to provide refugees and marginalized communities with access to inclusive education, child protection, livelihoods, and climate and environmental initiatives. By working together, we can empower individuals and communities to take control of their lives and build a brighter future.

Let's make a meaningful contribution to achieving Sustainable Development Goals: 4 (quality education), 5 ( Gender Equality), 8 (Decent work & Economic Growth),
and 13 (take urgent action to combat climate change and its impact). Donate, volunteer, or spread the word about our cause and help us create a world where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive.

Education program

We ensure access to education by providing play-based learning, school supplies, paying fees, and offering remedial classes for children who missed school. Under our Bright Beginning Project, we support children through play-based learning to make education engaging and meaningful. SEL fosters self-awareness, emotional regulation, and positive interactions, laying a foundation for lifelong learning. By equipping children with essential social skills, the program strengthens family and community bonds, promoting resilience and inclusion. In Kakuma refugee camp, SEL is vital for healing trauma, improving well-being, and empowering children to thrive despite adversity. Through this program, we not only help children thrive but also strengthen families and communities, creating a foundation for a brighter future.

Livelihoods Program

This program focuses on teenage mothers and vulnerable women in the Kakuma refugee camp. It concentrates on enhancing individuals' capabilities through vocational training, offering courses in tailoring and hairdressing. We also provide entrepreneurship training, including business planning, financial management, and marketing.
Moreover, workshops on economic empowerment improve financial understanding and offer networking opportunities. Mentorship, counseling, and peer support groups help with personal growth. This comprehensive strategy is focused on promoting economic self-sufficiency, strength, and involvement in the community.

Protection program

We protect children in Kakuma Refugee Camp through prevention, education, and family reunification. We address violence, exploitation, and abuse via awareness campaigns and child-friendly spaces offering play, learning, and psychosocial support.

Additionally, we collaborate with the Global Family Reunification Network (FRUN) to reconnect separated families through complementary pathways, ensuring every child has a safe, loving environment where they thrive.

We have recently joined the UNHCR Regional Community-Based Protection Network to improve the provision of basic protection and assistance services to vulnerable, forcibly displaced populations and individuals affected by serious human rights violations.
